Introduction
meOwgenda ("we", "our", or "the app") is a to-do list application with optional AI-assisted task entry. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information.
meOwgenda is designed to work entirely offline. Internet access, camera, microphone, and calendar access are only used if you choose to enable optional features, and are never required for core functionality.
Information We Collect
meOwgenda is designed with minimal data collection in mind:
- Task data: The tasks, notes, due dates, and categories you create are stored locally on your device. On Apple devices, if you enable iCloud sync, your data is also stored in your private iCloud account to keep it in sync across your Apple devices.
- No account required: We do not require you to create an account or provide any personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number to use the app.
- No analytics or tracking: We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising frameworks, or tracking tools.
Data Storage & Sync
Your task data is stored locally on your device. On Apple devices (iOS/macOS), if you choose to enable iCloud sync, your data is also stored in your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit service. This allows you to sync tasks across your Apple devices. This data is stored in your private iCloud container — we cannot access it. iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
On Android, your data is stored locally on your device only.
We do not operate any external servers. Outside of optional iCloud sync and optional cloud AI processing (described below), no data leaves your device. Your data stays under your control at all times.
Camera & Microphone Access
meOwgenda's AI-assisted task entry feature may request access to your device's camera and microphone:
- Microphone: Used to capture spoken input, which is converted to text using on-device speech-to-text processing. Audio is processed in real time and is not stored or recorded by the app.
- Camera: Used to capture images of appointment cards, calendar invites, or other scheduling information. Images are processed to extract task details and are not stored beyond the active processing session.
Camera and microphone access is only used when you actively initiate the AI task entry feature. You can revoke these permissions at any time through your device's settings.
Calendar Access
meOwgenda offers an optional Calendar Sync feature that lets you see your calendar events alongside your tasks. This feature is disabled by default and must be explicitly enabled in the app's Settings, at which point iOS will prompt you for calendar access.
- Read-only: The app uses Apple's EventKit framework to read events from your device calendars. It never creates, modifies, or deletes any events in your calendar.
- User-controlled scope: After granting permission, you choose exactly which of your calendars to include. You can change this selection or disable the feature at any time. Disabling Calendar Sync removes all calendar-sourced entries from the app.
- On-device only: Calendar events are read into the app's local database and displayed as read-only entries in your task list. Calendar data is never transmitted off the device, never sent to any server, and never shared with third parties, including us.
- Limited time window: Only events within the next 7 days from the selected calendars are synced. Older items are automatically removed from the local database.
- Sync triggers: Syncs happen when the app opens, when it returns to the foreground, and when iOS notifies the app that calendar contents have changed. There is no background sync, no cloud sync, and no polling.
Calendar data is used solely to render your own events within your own device, next to your own tasks. meOwgenda does not collect, store, transmit, analyze, sell, or share calendar data with any party.
On-Device Processing
By default, all AI-assisted task entry is processed entirely on your device using on-device speech-to-text and language model capabilities. When using on-device processing, no voice data, images, or task content leaves your device.
Optional Cloud AI Processing
You may optionally choose to enable cloud-based AI processing for enhanced task entry. This feature requires you to supply your own API key for a supported third-party AI service (Anthropic or OpenAI). When cloud AI processing is enabled:
- Text transcripts (produced by on-device speech-to-text) or captured images are sent to the third-party AI service you selected for processing into task entries. Raw audio is never sent to any third-party service.
- Data is sent directly from your device to the third-party service using your personal API key. We do not route this data through any servers we operate.
- Your API key is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to us.
- We have no access to or control over data processed by these third-party services.
Use of third-party AI services is governed by their respective privacy policies:
You can disable cloud AI processing and remove your API key at any time in the app's settings.
Third-Party Services
Other than the optional cloud AI processing described above, meOwgenda does not integrate with or share data with any third-party services, advertisers, or data brokers.
Children's Privacy
meOwgenda does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. The app does not require any personal data to function.
Data Deletion
You can delete all local app data at any time by deleting the app. On Apple devices, if you use iCloud sync, you can manage or delete your iCloud data through your device's Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Storage. We do not retain any copy of your data.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
